Beijing Tower Up in Flames

China’s Lantern Festival may have gotten a little out of hand: One of the buildings in a complex designed by architect Rem Koolhaas for the Beijing Olympics has been destroyed by flames. It’s not quite clear what caused the fire, although fireworks from the city’s Lantern Festival are suspected. Koolhaas’s more iconic two-legged tower, which is the headquarters of China’s national broadcaster and is part of the same complex, is unharmed. The destroyed building was intended to be a luxury hotel.
