A 10-month old baby has been rescued alive after spending more than 35 hours buried under the rubble of a collapsed building in Russia. The child is reportedly in an “extremely serious” condition having suffered severe frostbite and hypothermia, as temperatures in the town of Magnitogorsk have not risen above 7F (-14C) since the disaster on New Year’s Eve. The collapse of the 10-story building is believed to have been caused by a gas leak. The baby was found shortly after rescuers heard the child crying, regional Gov. Boris Dubrovsky said on his official Telegram account. Dubrovsky added that the baby managed to stay alive because the child was in a crib.
