They’re buddies on the golf course and the front lines of international relief, and now George H.W. Bush and Bill Clinton will co-chair a new center focused on civility in politics. On Monday, the University of Arizona will announce the opening of the National Institute for Civil Discourse—a center for debate, research, and education about civility that was inspired by the January 8 shooting of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and 18 others. The shootings "created a space for us to think about civil discourse,” the university’s provost said. Former Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor and former Senator Tom Daschle will serve as honorary co-chairs.
