Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War clinched an all-time record opening of $250 million this weekend, surpassing even Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The epic crossover film—which brings together more than 20 heroes of the Marvel Cinematic Universe—also scored the best Saturday opening ever, with $83 million. The film sees Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, Chris Evans’ Captain America, Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther, Chris Pratt’s Star Lord, Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange, and Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk team up to defeat the intergalactic villain Thanos. Globally, the superhero movie was on track to earn an estimated $630 million in all markets except China, where it will debut on May 11. With no other new releases opening opposite the Avengers this weekend, John Kraskinski’s thriller A Quiet Place came in second place in its fourth weekend with $10.6 million, while Amy Schumer’s I Feel Pretty claimed third with $8 million.
