Auto Sales Up Across the Board

A rare ray of light for Detroit: Auto sales are up across the board. Ford’s sales rose 40 percent and GM’s sales rose 21 percent, with a 43-percent surge in the four brands that it will continue to produce. Even recall-plagued Toyota’s sales rose 41 percent from March 2009 after a 12 percent decline in January and February. In fact, the automaker sold more of its recalled models in March than it did in January and February combined.
