Samuel G. Freedman a professor at Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism. He is the author of a number of books, including his latest, Breaking the Line; Small Victories, a finalist for the 1990 National Book Award; and The Inheritance, a finalist for the 1997 Pulitzer Prize.
