Australian Leader Lets ‘Suppository’ Slip

Tomato, tomahto, repository … suppository? Australia’s opposition leader Tony Abbott made an unfortunate—now famous—slip of the tongue Monday while discussing George W. Bush. “No one ... however smart, however well-educated, however experienced … is the suppository of all wisdom,” Abbott said. Gasps immediately followed the statement, in which Abbott had unknowingly compared Bush to a rectal drug-delivery system. The expression he meant, of course, was repository of all wisdom. Abbott has yet to speak out about the error. Twitter will no doubt continue sticking it to him until he does.
