Attorney: Not Enough Evidence for Bondi, Trump Bribery Complaint
According to a report in the AP, Fort Myers-area State Attorney Stephen Russell, who was assigned to investigate a bribery complaint against President Donald Trump and Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, found insufficient evidence to move it forward. Russell presented his results to Florida Gov. Rick Scott on Thursday. The complaint resulted from intense scrutiny over a $25,000 campaign contribution that Bondi received from Trump in 2013. Bondi sought the donation at around the same time that her office was being asked about a New York investigation into alleged fraud at the now-defunct Trump University. The investigation came after a number of complaints were filed against Bondi by a Massachusetts attorney.
