At least one person was killed and seven others injured Wednesday night when an amusement-park ride malfunctioned at the Ohio State Fair, officials said. Three people were in critical condition. “I am terribly saddened by this accident, by the loss of life and that people were injured enjoying Ohio’s fair. Our thoughts and prayers go out to those grieving and injured,” Ohio Gov. John Kasich said, ordering an investigation and a shutdown of all rides at the fair “until additional safety inspections can be completed.” The ride involved in the accident, called the Fire Ball, had reportedly passed a safety inspection prior to the incident.
