Argentine Prez: Prosecutor Was Killed

President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner of Argentina changed her tune on the mysterious death of Alberto Nisman, a prosecutor who accused top politicians, including her husband, of covering up a 1994 bombing by Iran. Kirchner and other officials previously said Nisman, who was found dead Sunday, committed suicide. Just yesterday, she said Nisman worked with her opponents to “sidetrack, lie, cover up, and confuse.” On Thursday, she posted on her website that his death “was not a suicide,” and that those who were responsible “used him while he was alive and then they needed him dead.” Nisman spent 10 years investigating the case and had argued that Argentina conspired with Iran to cover up the country’s involvement in the bombing of a Jewish center that killed 85 people in exchange for Iranian oil.
