Archdiocese Charged for Failing Victims

The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis was criminally charged Friday with “failing to protect” victims of an abusive priest. The county prosecutor said church officials didn’t enforce their own restrictions for Father Curtis Wehmeyer after another priest reported he was sleeping in the same bed with one victim. These facts were “ignored, minimized, or not shared,” said Ramsey County Attorney John Choi. Wehmeyer is in prison for child sexual abuse.
