Apple Exec Leaves Company

Mark Papermaster, the exec in charge of hardware for the Apple iPhone, will be leaving the company. It is unclear whether he is stepping down voluntarily or if he is being forced out. His departure follows the embarrassing revelations that the iPhone 4's antenna—which earlier this year was trumpeted by Apple head honcho Steve Jobs as top-notch—was riddled with reception issues and persistent dropped calls. Apple spokesperson Steve Dowling said in a statement that Papermaster “is leaving the company and Bob Mansfield, senior vice president of Macintosh hardware engineering, is assuming his responsibilities."
