'Angry Birds' Op Busts Cockfights

New York authorities announced that Operation Angry Birds, an initiative that had nothing to do with smartphone games but rather a cockfighting ring, had saved 3,000 hens and roosters and led to nine felony arrest charges. Attorney General Eric Schneiderman said the sting targeted sites in Brooklyn, Queens, and Ulster County. According to police, these angry birds had endured a far crueler existence than their viral app-game counterpart. Many had been injected with performance-enhancing drugs and had razor-sharp hooks attached in place of their natural spurs.
