    Green Bowl

    An Energy Efficient Super Bowl

All eyes are on the game today (and, of course, the ads), but officials at Tampa Bay's Raymond James Stadium are also quietly touting their campaign to make the venue as green as possible. Energy efficiency measures like specialized lighting have reduced the stadium's electricity bill by $580,000. As for the mountain of beer bottles, snack trays, and plastic utensils at the game, all of the material is either biodegradable or will be recycled afterwards. "Those are things that the fan doesn't really notice or see, but we're certainly making a big impact on the bottom line," Mickey Farrell, the director of the stadium operations, told the New York Times.
