Amputee Climbs 103-Floor Skyscraper

Mind over matter is one thing, mind over an 103-floor climb is another. Zac Vawter, a 31-year-old amputee who uses a bionic leg controlled by his mind, climbed the steps of a more-than-100-story skyscraper in Chicago on Sunday for the charity event SkyRise Chicago. Vawter’s performance was one of the first public exhibitions of the bionic leg in action, and researchers said that it worked “fantastically.” Vawter finished his ascent in 45 minutes, and the event benefitted the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago.
