Alexander McQueen Turns to Filmmaking

Who needs a runway when you have a crack den? Forgoing the traditional mores of the fashion world, Alexander McQueen bucked the runway for his 2010 men’s line and opted instead for a video depicting a model, presumably going insane, inside an empty and decrepit house. Directed by David Sims, the film’s production company explained that it “represents a journey as artistic ideas metamorphose into their physical manifestations, and as the artist himself submits to the painstaking process of invention.” For this model, the creative process involves making a house out of sticks and cowering in a chair while clad in nothing but his skivvies. Would we call this art?
