Alexander McQueen Exhibit at Costume’s Institute at the Met

Late designer Alexander McQueen will take the spotlight as the feature of a new exhibit at the Costume Institute at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, Women’s Wear Daily reported Wednesday. The show, titled Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty, will chronicle McQueen’s 20-year career and include more than 100 pieces he designed. Curator Andrew Bolton told WWD, "[McQueen] really was one of the most provocative voices of the past 30 years in fashion. His catwalk presentations were outstanding and straddle art and fashion. We wanted to get across two elements—the spectacle of the runway presentations and the beauty of his craftsmanship." The exhibit—which will be broken down thematically—will launch at the Costume Institute Gala on May 2 and will open to the public on May 4. Vogue’s Anna Wintour, designer Stella McCartney, and actor Colin Firth are co-chairing the upcoming show, with fashion executive Francois-Henri Pinault and actress Salma Hayek acting as honorary chairs.
