Air Traffic Errors Rise

Errors by air traffic controllers have risen sharply, according to the Government Accountability Office. Mistakes by controllers at radar facilities that cause planes to fly too close to one another have nearly doubled over the past three years, according to the report. There's also been a sharp rise in the number of objects finding their way onto the runway when they shouldn't, such as baggage carts and taxiing planes. The Federal Aviation Administration defended the increase in incidents by attributing it to a new policy designed to encourage error reporting.
