Accuser ‘Disgusted’ by Labrie’s Defense

The teenager who was attacked by now-20-year-old Owen Labrie at New Hampshire’s prestigious St. Paul’s School gave an interview to the Today show Tuesday morning, for the first time revealing her identity to the public. Chessy Prout, who was 15 at the time of the 2014 assault, told Savannah Guthrie that she hopes Labrie “learns” from the event and from the ensuing nationally publicized trial. “I hope he gets help. And that’s all I can ever hope for in any sort of process like this. Because if he doesn’t learn, he will do it to another young woman.” Prout added, “They said that they didn’t believe that he did it knowingly, and that frustrated me a lot because he definitely did do it knowingly. And the fact that he was still able to pull the wool over a group of people’s eyes bothered me a lot and just disgusted me in some way.” Labrie was convicted of three counts of misdemeanor sexual assault, felony illegal use of computer services, and misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child.
