Style never gets old. But The Elements of Style does—it turns 50 today. A new edition of E.B. White and William Strunk Jr’s parvum opus of English rhetoric has been released today in elegant gold hardcover with new notes on the book’s history and a sampling of some of the praise it received. Wrote Dorothy Parker of the book: “If you have any young friends who aspire to become writers, the second greatest favor you can do them is to present them with copies of The Elements of Style. The first greatest, of course, is to shoot them now, while they're happy."
