Machete-wielding attackers have killed another liberal Bangladeshi blogger and activist. The 28-year-old, an outspoken critic of injustice and militancy, was the latest victim in a series of attacks by suspected Islamist extremists. Police said law student Nazimuddin Samad was killed by three or four men Thursday while heading home from class. They assaulted him with machetes before shooting him and reportedly yelling “Allahu akbar” while fleeing. Five secular writers and a publisher were targeted and killed last year, including a Bangladeshi American. Some of them were killed by Islamist militant group Ansarullah Bangla Team, which claimed responsibility for many of those attacks.
