5 Dead in China Village Shooting

Five people are dead and at least three others injured after a gunman opened fire in China’s rural Hebei province, Xinhua news agency reported Tuesday. Two police officers and the suspected gunman were among those killed. Liu Shuangrui allegedly used a double-barreled shotgun to open fire in a village in Suning county, according to a police statement. The 55-year-old reportedly shot dead two of his neighbors and two police officers responding to the scene. Liu was reportedly shot by police, according to local media. Local authorities said in a statement Liu had been suffering from “long-term schizophrenia.”
