12 Kurds Dead in Turkish Protests

Ticked off about perceived inaction by Turkey to defend Kobani in Syria from ISIS, Kurdish protesters across the country clashed with police, and at least 12 have been killed. According to reports, riot police used tear gas and water cannons in multiple towns and cities, including Ankara and Istanbul. Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Yalcin Akdogan said it was a “massive lie” that Turkey had done nothing, and that it was doing “whatever can be done.” However, while Turkish troops and tanks have lined up along the Syrian border, they have not crossed into the war-torn country.
